Course Outline

Class 1

Soil

The soil underneath our feet is teaming with life. If we want healthy, nutritious food to come from it we must understand and care for it. Learn no-till methods, regenerative principles, and comprehensive ways to prepare your site and vegetable beds.

Class 2

Class 3

Systems

Learn From Patrick Deasy

Owner and Farmer of Stepping Stone Farm

Often touted as having ‘the most beautiful vegetables at the market’, Patrick Deasy has been growing vegetables, fruits, and flowers regeneratively using no-till methods for over 10 years in Napa, CA.

Following his career in youth development, Patrick’s first farming position was a chef’s co-op in the heart of downtown Napa, a 2-acre culinary garden providing fruits flowers and vegetables for local restaurants.

After gaining the valuable experience of production farming, Patrick became the farm educator of a local Waldorf school teaching school-aged kids the importance of soil health, interconnectedness, and hard work.

Patrick went on to become the farm field manager for The Restaurant at Meadowood, a 3-starred Michelin restaurant in the heart of Napa Valley. His passion for rich diversity, no-till methods, and educating others propelled him to take the step into cultivating his own small farm in 2019 - Stepping Stone Farm where educates others on how to connect deeper with the natural world.

“Patrick has a very professional speaking style, relaxed and very informative at the same time. He doesn't take long pauses to search for words or use "um" or "ah" or "like" or any of those sentence fillers that many speakers use. It was a treat to listen to him talk about something that he is so passionate about..”
